UN-Supportive

CA$1,820.00

About the Art: While taking sculpture anatomy workshops the models were very fit or slim athletic people. In noticed the majority of figurative sculpture also showed “ideal” figures and I couldn’t help thinking “where are the regular, everyday figures?” Being a plus sized woman I wanted to show that all shapes, sizes, ages, genders, and ethnicities are beautiful. This sculpture shows a plus sized woman trying to fit into supportive underwear and they have ripped. Her face shows the horror of the moment, and the humor in wardrobe failures. This piece is about acceptance, self-love, and not trying to force ourselves into some unattainable ideal.
